Traffic Light Viewers
I really like period-correct accessories and was wondering if anyone uses these traffic light viewers that I see on E-Bay. Do they work?

I have used them off and on for maybe 50 years or so. They were necessary on the old 40's and 50's cars and trucks with sun-visors over the windshield.
There were two types. One had a suction cup and mounted on the dash. The other type mounted on the windshield trim. Both would allow you to look at the traffic signal in the prism type lens and worked very well.
Some of the really old ones were glass, ground for the prism effect.

Have one here . It has a threaded stud on the bottom and bolts on the dash . I works real well with the old flat straight up windshields . Found that out the first time I rolled up to the traffic light being the 1st one in line . Am not going to use it .

I do and they do. I mounted mine in the outside (far left) screw hole for the defroster duct which is centered on my steering column.

GM offered Traffic Light Viewers as an accessory on 1946/52 and 1953/54 passenger cars without wrap around windshields, it's marked GUIDE.
These mounted on the dash just above the instrument cluster. Most often see back then on Pontiac's, the GM car favored by 'little old ladies.'

Here's a pic from the 1952 Chevrolet accessories brochure. (You could even shave while you wait for the light to turn green.)

My '50 Buick Riviera has a window trim mounted unit – a Fulton Traffic Light Finder. The plastic prism works well despite a 60-year old patina

Use the person behind you for a viewer. As impatient as people are today you will hear a horn real fast letting you know the light has changed.

I know they were/are popular with '55-'57 Chevy owners or are now a popular accessory.
