Morning sickness
I'm asking if any here has had this problem and what is causing it. For the first ten minutes I drive my van , it winds in second gear while emmiting a whole lotta blue smoke . Once the engine has warmed to full operating temperature she runs fine with no smoke at all. She's running a little over 200,000 work miles with no major engine parts replaced except for the IDM computer. I got no trouble codes present. My second question is, for the last three fuel filter changes I have been finding a heavy wax buildup on the paper element , what can cause this?

This wax has been a problem ever since I started fueling in NY instead of PA. I have used several locations not to say that they might be supplied from one source. Tank was recoated a few years back and fitted with an external in line filter, not to say the possibility does not exist. could that be the cause of poor cold performance ? I've noticed this change over the last two months.

I know filter's are'nt cheap but change it one evening and than wait till morning and see how it runs, change the one from the tank also, run it than, take filter's out and see what they look like, if it is full of crud than drop tank and clean. You could also siphon some out and see what it looks like, also is the oil in good shape?
