Yes, you can buy brake kits for trailers. I put brakes on my 16 ft. flatbed a few months ago. It was a pretty easy job.

Most boat trailers use surge brakes because electric brakes won't handle the water.

Surge brakes on a trailer getting backed into salt water are still going to need lots of work to keep them going.

Any trailer over 3500lbs needs brakes here, and you have to have them on all trailer axles. Any tandem axle trailer must have brakes here in BC.

Trailer doesn't have brakes of any kind no surge brakes no electric.

The trailer had a 4 pin flat connector when I got it and even as a 2005 the light where already toast becasue of salt water which sucked becasue it had LED lights on it.

I bought 30 feet of 4 wire trailer light wire and make a set of lights that clamp on so I clamp them on and take them off before backing into the water.

I went looking the other night at trailers and the guy was showing me the new trailers that have a garden hose female end attached to the trailer so you can flush out the brakes with fresh water when you get home. Salesman said I could still expect a lot of trouble from them.

Next step I'm going to get hold of EZ Loader (trailer manufacture) and see if they have any brake kits for this trailer
