I'm sure the petroleum vapors are less harmful than whatever the chemicals are that is in the FOF.

The can of F0F is to get you to the next town. Once there the tire can be taken apart, repaired, and wiped clean.
That is a recommendation that is never followed, to my knowledge.

Huh? I've never heard that one.

Touring motorcyclists have been doing that for decades.

Fix O Flat will make you wildly unpopular with your tire guy. It doesn't just wipe off, it is a nasty gooey mess that coats the tire and rim.

I am with alloro on the spark plug thing. No way I am pulling a plug on a 5.4 to fill a tire.

I just carry and air compressor that I connect to the battery and a good supply of tire plugs. This is a way more versitile set up than the others mentioned.

I've still got the problem. It doesn't seem to be coming from the emergency brake or regular brakes. What else could be causing this?

I can't prove it, but I wonder if it's got something to do with reversing....

Haven't looked at the U-Joint but will do so. The squeek is most pronounced when I first start driving after the car has been sitting for a while.

If it's a 4wd with the 2 piece rear drive shaft, check the middle joint. When I had my '97 it started squealing while I was on vacation in FL 1300 miles from home - it made it home just fine. Unfortunately the fix was to replace it with the newer design 1 piece drive shaft $$$ (but that was a long while ago).

It was the emergency brake springs. Replaced them and it all went away.

Glad you found the problem and fixed it. Also glad to see that I'm not the only slowpoke when it come to diagnostics and repairing an issue.

Oops!

It seemed to go away. Then I left the Expedition to sit for 4 months. Came back and it's squeaking as bad as ever. Already replaced the e-brake springs. Any other thoughts on what it could be or how to trouble-shoot?

It's very hard to give any accurate pointers in your situation. I would first check the springs that you replaced and if it is that, again. you will have to find the cause. Maybe if you post a video with the sound it will strike a chord with someone here.
