My truck is screwing up already. I bought my 2010 F250 truck in February and I only have 5700 miles on it. If the truck sits for three days without being driven a minor (I hope) problem occurs when I finally do drive it. For the first half mile to mile, I have no turbo boost. When I step on the accelerator a god awful screaming sound comes from the engine compartment and I have very little power. Since the engine RPM’s stay below 2000 and the turbo gauge stays at zero, I’m guessing I’m hearing the turbos trying to work. The noise almost sounds like a gasoline engine red lining. Within a mile, the problem clears up and the truck drives normally. I’ve had this happen three times now.
I have an appointment to take it to the Ford dealer next week but I’m a little peeved that that my new truck is screwing up so soon. BTW, when I drive the truck every day this problem never occurs.
I have a three week trip planned towing our fifth wheel to Yellowstone in August so I hope the dealer can fix this problem.
that sounds like sticky vanes in the turbos or at least one of them or even a sticky turbo. Have you got the proper oil (CJ-4) and filter in your truck? Has it been changed once by now?
When I bought the truck the dealer threw in the first oil change for free so yes, the oil was changed by the Ford dealer when I had just over 4600 miles on the odometer.
Hopefully the dealer will know exactly what's wrong and fix it.
I don't want to have to worry about breaking down somewhere in Wyoming while towing my fifth wheel.
