A couple months ago my truck started to run rough. I have changed the plugs, O2, but still running bad. Sputters, dies out, but starts right back up (that is why I don't think it is the fuel filter). Idles eratic (sp?). Could this be the EGR? Also not sure if this is a coincidence but right before we spliced the tail lights to add a pigtail for a trailer it ran great. Then RIGHT after, I mean as soon as we were done and I started it up to go home, this crap happened. I checked the ground and seems like a good connection. Should I redo the wiring back and buy an adaptor kit for the pigtail instead?
try cleaning the throttle sensor (brake/carb cleaner) but be careful for the electronic part not to get wet and short it out. worked for me anyway, I'd be at a stop light and idle would go up and down and when i started it it would idle low.
Jason, I assume you are referring to the Idle Air Controller (IAC/IAB)? It can be cleaned, but that is usually a short term fix. It is a great way to confirm that is the problem, but in the long run it will most likely need replaced.

Your right, Ive had to do this twice so far but if you dont have the cash you can go 2-3 months without having to do it again and only takes bout 10 minutes so.
Well, cleaned the tps. Although it does seem to idle better it is still hesitating bad and seems to has a miss to it. Could this be caused by the EGR? Can I clean the EGR? Those darn things are expensive. The check engine light comes on and goes off. It is a 1991 so no one around me can read the codes. Think I may undo the pigtail and rewire the lights the way they are supposed to be and get the adapter kit for it.
