Hi John - I just checked the Aircare site - it's 5000 kg and under (not pounds), which is about 11,000 pounds, so I'm guessing my 7500 lb gvw still makes me Aircareable - darn.

GOT,

I may be off on the numbers, but when I bought my last truck (the 72 f250 - gvwr 6200lbs), the owner and I went to ICBC and told the clerk I wanted to raise the GVWR, because I was going to be carrying a slide-in camper. She raised it no problem, no questions asked. I didn't have to get air care... They didn't want to see the truck, or the camper, either. I know it's possible, don't give up...

Best of luck,

John

One more thing, if you get collectors plates, you are air care exempt - just a thought.

Oddly enough, I think that put you into the "Motorhome" category, which lets vehicles of 3500 kg or more be exempt! I love Canadian democracy, but ...OK. I'll put a camper on the back. Actually I won't - I'll try to meet Aircare requirements, cuz we should. Plus we can.

GOT,

I'm sure you'll do the right thing.

Best of luck,

John

PS, post some pics of your ride, we love looking at slicks!

GOT: Is this your truck? I got this off the web a while back, same unique (confusing) Merc/Ford badging? I think the PO had a topper on it. By the way, I went back out to that junkyard, the Merc side emblems are for an M100, sorry.

Hey, anyone have this on their Mercury glove box door:

Does yours say "Ford" or something else? This one is a bit bent, but my old one had the whole label peeled off?

yeah, my 65 has that. My 63 Meteor(US) does too, but it's slightly different. The M100 was missing the foil label when I got it, or so I thought. While cleaning it out the other day, I opened the ash tray and found it. Will reattach with a lttle adhesive.
since the morot/trans swap I've been driving the M100 almost daily!!

yep that's her! I got the owner to take the canopy off. And $800 off the price, in case you noticed what it was in the ad. And yes my glovebox has the same 'Ford' badge on it - goes nicely with my Ford 100 fender badges and tailgate - haha!
Have been busy being on holidays - sounds like an oxymoron but you catch my drift. That 65 Ford/Merc shop manual never showed up. I got a refund but no explanation, maybe a misplaced ad on eBay. So am shopping again. Too bad about those M100 badges, but if the truck isn't restoreable you should snag them if the price is right. Is the steering wheel/column original? I don't know where mine came from but it's purple and has what I think was probably a dimmer switch, which doesn't work, as well as the turn signal control on the column, which does. U-G-L-Y ugly. Had me wondering if it had been cracked up somewhere along the line, but the truck seems straight as an arrow and no obvious damage anywhere. Just a bad choice of replacement part for unknown reasons - good for your confidence when it's the part that makes the truck go this way or that way! or not. Will keep in touch.

Mercury truck forum

I think that would be a mistake. Most of the parts in 61-66 Ford and Mercury pickups are interchangeable. Therefore it would be much more useful to all of us if both nameplates are included in all the threads.
