hey everyone I'm new to this site and just bought my first diesel. It is an 04 F-250 and i have a lot of questions. I guess i will start with this, i have been trying to research my truck as far as regular maintanence goes and i noticed using the motorcraft premium gold coolant is the only thing that should be used. So i pop the hood of my truck check the coolant and its got green coolant in it. Do i need to drain it immediately and put the premium gold in it? And could this have messed anything up? Thanks for the help.
Short answer, yes, you need to drain it because it will clog up. go to powerstrokehelp.com and listen to his free videos about the 6.0, not everything his says is spot on but its a good free source for a newbie. he does answer a lot of basic questions.
It is possible that the owner put in the Ford additive that is recommended to be used if your nitrite level analyzes to be too low. I believe it is blue, so it wioll turn the system color to green.
It is also possible that someone put in the wrong coolant.
A complete flush with the use of VC-9 cleaner would be wise IMO.

Since you don't state the mileage of your truck, a complete change of all fluids and filters would be a good idea so that you have a known starting point base line. This would include a tranny flush if you don't have the maint. records. While doing this use only OEM filters. The 6.0 is very picky in this area.
