Go to a muffler shop and have them build you an exhaust. It's not as expensive as it sounds. On my last custom exaust I used carsound cats which at the time were the highest flowing cats you could get according to hot rod mag. I liked them, my flows still gave a nice throaty note and the cat wasn't expensive.

I prefer calicos or tabbies. Very low maintenance on a cat. They also keep the rodent population way down. I am not sure about using them on an exhaust system though. I try to keep cats off of my truck all together.

You do not have to buy a good cat, they generally hang out by the garage or garbage cans.

Yes they prolly could. Depending on your needs he could make one out of stainless. It's expensive and heavy though. I got my cat from ebay, but if you google car sound cats you'll find them. Here's one Magnaflow Car-Sound Catalytic Converter High Flow 91005: eBay Motors (item 250217374121 end time Aug-06-10 09:15:25 PDT)

Do you have to run cats in your state? I have true duals with magnaflows and no cats. Sounds pretty good.

If the original poster lives in a smog controlled state, his options are very limited.

If he lives in a state that doesn't require testing or inspections of the smog system, then running without is best.
