Need some advice

Hey guys, got a problem with a buddies truck and could use some advice from some of you more knowledgable guys or atleast some thoughts on my "theroy" Little history, 04 350 130K. I did studs, EGR delete, oil cooler, cleaned turbo and all that stuff for him a few months back and truck has run like a sewing machine ever since. This past weekend he bought a 5er TT in GA so he set off to get it, got about 25-30 miles from the camper place and was cruising along about 70mph with the cruise on. traffic started to slow down so he reaches down and turns the cruise off with the button on the wheel. Traffic speed starts to pick back up so he gets back on the throttle and the truck is just about unresponsive. He was able to maintain 60mph but the truck was working with everything it had to do so. He was going to try to limp it to the camper place thinking they could get him hooked up with a local shop. He made a turn just before the camper place and he said it was like someone flipped a switch and the truck was right back to normal. He hooked up tp the 35' 5er and came on home and never skipped a beat.

Now, when I had this thing torn down and took the turbo apart, it literally looked like it had been at the bottom of salt water ocean for a year. It was BAD. Not just rusted but the cast was actually ate away in places. I cleaned it up best I could against my better judgment. The truck does have a low bboost code aswell. My theroy is that the vanes got "hung" up on the scale and rusted divots in the turbine housing, but this is just speculation at this poing. I have been over every inch of this truck, harness etc and cannot fine a problem nor can I duplicate the concern.

Anyone of you guys with more experience with these things have any input or thoughts on this? My outdated MODIS will only do so much with the 6.0 as far as what PIDS it will monitor and output controls.

most times it turns out to be a small carbo rock that gets in to the egr valve. assuming that you still have a valve. it could be lot of things but w/o a dtc and no truck to look at its gonna be hard.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the valve is still in place and plugged in, just no exhaust flow as the cooler is gone. I cleaned the intake in the CUDA for a full day and it looked pretty much new. I cant remember how well I cleaned the EGR valve itself though. Might pull it out and have a look.
