Just a quick note to say "Hello"
Just a note to say what a great site this looks like and I look forward to getting some helpful information when I start rebuilding our 86 F-150 XLT Lariat SB. I have no complaints with the Ford, but replaced it with a Cummins powered Dodge for towing a 5er. We used the Ford as a second family vehicle until it lost oil pressure @ 147k. The body, interior, and driveline are still in great shape, so I hope to put it back on the road in the future.
I'll probably never purchase a gasoline engine truck again after owning a diesel, but I would like to get the 86 going again because it's still a great looking truck.
Regards,
Dennis

Thanks for the Welcome!

Yes, I've been a member since I bought the truck. That's one of the reasons I've gotten so interested in the Cummins. It's really remarkable what this engine is capable of. This is the first diesel that I have owned and if you're looking for power and longevity, the diesels are the way to go. I came close to getting a Super-Duty with the Power Stroke, but there was about $5,000 difference in price between that and the Dodge. Just before I went to order a new Ram, this one showed up on the lot with everything I wanted plus more. The decision was over when they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
My wife preferred the black shortbed F-150, which she drove until the oil pump quit @ 147k, and now it's waiting for a rebuild. Bottom end didn't like lack of oil!:-(
