timing question
question on my timing on my 86 5.0 FI engine with AOD tranny
at an idle with everything plugged in what is normal timing. I can set it to 10 degrees with the spout connector disconnected. at idlel with everything connected i am around 3 t o 5 bdc.
my truck runs great as along as i am accelerating if i idle or cruising at 5 to10 mph it hesitates and surges.
any help is appreciated

I have the exact same truck
. unplug the EEC connector by the distributor. Set the timing to 10 degrees btc. reconnect the EEC.
mine also surged like that. i'm not sure what exactly fixed it because i replaced all my sensors and upgraded to msd distributor and coil at 150k miles.
