My search has left me with unanswered questions on this. I have been looking around for a tow vehicle and found an 86 F250 Crewcab long bed SRW 4x4 6.9 TTB and claimed 5-spd.
The pics he sent are poor but it is definitely a TTB front end and F250 emblems on the fenders and this guy swears a 5 speed but he has no clue about Ford trucks and he bought it at a wholesale auction sight unseen just listed as Ford truck but he was after other items in the lot. It has what appears to be a custom hand built canopy on the bed and looks well cared for so a 5-spd could have been swapped by the PO. My question is, what is it? Centurion conversion? Govt. fleet vehicle? It is a crew 4x with TTB so maybe an 80-84ish F350 with title/vin issues. It is quite far from me so may be a week or more before I can get out there to see it, any thoughts.
I'd post the ones he sent but they are crappy at best, it looks like an 80-84 F350 with the TTB just the year 86 and 250 badging throw me off. I should be getting the vin from him soon that will answer a lot of questions.
80-86 all have the same body and there is no difference (in the body) between F100/250/350. The 250's had TTB and 350's have a solid axle. The 5t speed was probably swapped in later. If it's the zf5 it's a big upgrade
So much for that when he called me back to give me the vin# he said it just drove out and he was $4,000 richer. I was going to trade him some construction equipment. I'll keep looking. Must have been clean if he got $4k.
