Where does this switch go?

I can't find this part anywhere on my truck. The P.O. had bypassed some of the wiring related to the A/C system and I'm trying to straighten things out. I'm thinking he may have removed this when it failed. I came across this A/C compressor switch in Carpenter's catalog and I have to say I don't think my truck has it. Will someone tell me where it should be located and what it does? My theory is that it acts like a relay switch. When I select A/C with the in-dash controls, it sends a current to this switch, and then this switch sends current to the compressor to engage? If I'm right, and my truck doesn't have this switch, then that could be the reason why I have problems with the vacuum switch valve in the dash. Specifically, the small copper contact that closes when you move the control to A/C. Thank you all for any help!

I have factory installed air on my '79 F150 4x4 w/ 351.

I believe thats the a/c compressor clutch brush assy. If your truck has it, it's behind the pulley on the compressor.
