New to me!!

Hey all,

I'm going to buy a 2001 Excursion with the 7.3 on Thursday.

Never owned a diesel before. Got alot of info on maint.
One question I do have. I saw it on You Tube to change out the high pressure oil resivour. I guess it takes about 3 qts of oil. The guy said to take out 1 qt...Run the engine...take out another qt...Run it and then take out 1 pint and put Prolong in and the injectors would love it..

The EX that I am purchasing has been very well maintained.

Just curious if anyone else does this?

dont add any additives to the oil.....

Congrats, don't add anything to your oil. And don't worry about sucking up the oil in the hpop reservoir. Just drain the pan and change the filter. If the info you are getting on youtube is from this goon:

Yep, like Keith said, just change the oil via the oil pan drain. It will take about 14qts with filter change. Put oil in new filter prior to putting it on. Make sure you run oil that is specific for diesel engines.
