Hi everyone. I just bought a 00 Expedition and the light switch will not allow the fog lights to come on with the parking lights. Also, using the automatic lights, the fog lights won't come on. Anyone know how to by pass this?
I have found this topic several times here and on another group. I have been wanting to change this functioning on my 01 F-350. It seems that exactly how you can do it depends on the vehicle you own. Exps. are not the same as F-350 which are not the same as Lightning etc. I have found a couple of good descriptions of how to do this on vehicles, but not F-350 or exp. Some descriptions you will find quite involved, on other vehicles it seems to be easier. This is a topic that comes up often. It would be great if anyone who has done it for their vehicle, post the specific directions here. Then there would be one place to look for any particular truck.
The Fog lights have a safety feature that prevents people from driving around trying to "Look Cool" and operate a vehicle under low light conditions with the parking/Fog lights only. Most people don't obey the law for the sake of trying to "Look Cool" and Ford is working with the Department of Motor Vehicles to help prevent it. Personally I would get rid of parking lights period and have a single switch to turn on all the lights. Or better yet, remove the switch and install a light sensitive sensor so these young kids, and adults who refuse to grow up, won't have a choice as to when to turn on the lights. Ford has installed a nice feature that should let people know that fog lights are for FOG and nothing more!
