power problems...
I am new to the deisel world. Back in February, I bought a 27' travel trailer, weighing in at around 6700 lbs. I then bought a 2003 F250 2WD crew cab with a 7.3 liter. After fixing all oil leaks, the truck ran great and pulled my trailer with no problems. It had plenty of power. I loved the truck. About a month ago, some idiot pulled in front of me, causing me to total my truck. I have since went out and bought a 2003 F350 2WD dually crew cab with the 6.0 liter. Two week after having it. I lost injector#8 and EGR. I had the mechanic replace the injector and had him install a full EGR delete kit from Sinister. The truck seemed to run good after getting it back last week. This weekend, I went to New Braunfels, TX, to go camping. Interstate 10 has a few small hills out that way. While on my way there and back, while pulling the trailer, the truck would not go over 60 MPH if there was even a slight uphill climb. The truck would downshift, and then sound like an airplane was taking off. I assume that was my fan. Then the engine would "cycle" between two sounds. It would first be revving up, with the fan, and you would hear the turbo whine for about 4 seconds. Then you would hear a real high pitched whistle sound for 4 seconds. Then turbo whine, then high pitched whistle. Etc, etc. This would continue until the truck was back on flat ground, or a downhill, which is where it would shift into lower RPMs and the "cycle" would go away...at least until the next hill. Basically, my truck has no power. It is in shop now, but they did not find anything when they scanned it, and there was never any "check engine" light. I don't have a turbo boost gauge, and coolant and oil temp gauges were reading normal...in the middle. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't know what to have checked next.
