Noobie here!!

Ok guys new to the diesel world. I just got a 2010 F350 and my questions are:
To those with a gauge in your truck what kind of temps do you see when going up hills? When I am on the flat I run 195 and going up hill I see temps of 214. Is this normal? I can be towing or unloaded and she gets to these temps.
Second is I do short trips to work so my truck does not get to hot but my question is, when the truck goes into regen it will not be completed by the time I get to work is it ok to shut it off and have it restart at a later time or do I need to drive around for 20 minutes to have it complete its cycle?

I just got back from driving 1500 miles last week, no trailer just 5 people and a the back end full of luggage. On the flats with rolling hills it was about 190-200 but when I was climbing the grade into Tahoe it went up to 220 for a short period of time. Also when the truck was regening the temp would climb just over 200.

In my opionion you can shut the truck off before the regen is complete a few times, I always take it out of gear, which cancels the regen, and let it idle for a bit to cool everything down since the regens get it pretty hot. It is important that you let it complete the regen cycle though so it doesn't lead to more problems, if I know that I cut it short ,the next time I go out it usually goes into regen as soon as it heats up so that time I drive it until it can complete the cycle, at 60-65 mph it usually takes about 15-20 miles for me.

I quess mine will get clogged up. I only drive it on the weekends. I've had mine now for 5 months and have put 900 miles on it riding around town. It's only been on the interstate once for about 100 miles. I don't worry about the regen cycles...I just drive mine.

Good thing the warranty on the DPF is good for over 100K.
