You are right. It is not a 352, it is a 427. The block checks out good. They said it is a standard bore but there is a 5 thousands taper so they recommend a bore to 4.25
That will cost $100.
Now I need to start saving up to build the engine.
Well I have been around FE for 40 years +....Sniff sniff !! and even back when 427 were available for the common wrench like me..they werent $200 ....and Glenn hit it right on the money...Its our ever beloved sideoiler...
Now call me a dumb ***..But I have never seen in all my years..55 of them to be in Aug...4th...a guy that had a 427 sideoiler block and didnt have someone that knew somewhat of FE's to check his old junk out and tell him what the F$&k it was...
But Hey..who am I to say...If its indeed true Dude ! you just got the score of your life !! The FE Gods have NO more for You ! LOL..
G, that even beats the hell out of my 68 428CJ motor..Huh...BTW thanks Bud !
I thought that it was weird that when I brought the block into the shop, all the guys stopped working and came over to look at the block. The guy I bought it from, said it came out of a boat he purchased.
I guess it was my lucky day.
Thanks for recommending me to purchase the block.

Seriously consider getting some money out of this block. Do you really need/want a 427 in your PU? If so, major score. If not, major score on resale.... Just an idea before you start trying to find pistons that won't require race gas....

Below are a picture of the heads he has. The numbers are
C6AE-F
0A19
He has a C-6 transmission he also wants to sell. He does not have a price, but wants me to make him an offer. He also has the rocker arms, and they are adjustable, they are not hydraulic ones. He does not have springs for the heads. What would be a reasonable price for these? He also has an intake manifold, but it does not look very good. My batteries ran out on my camera, so I did not get pictures of the other parts.
He wants me to give him a price for everything, so he can clean out his garage.
Those sure look like Medium Riser heads. C5AE-6090-F would be the casting number. I think he's just reading it wrong. The heads look in nice shape too and would compliment the block nicely. If you look at the chambers you can see there machined and 88-92 cc's depending if they have been milled and how much. Larger valves as well. My TP heads have the same chambers. You also use spring cups under the valve springs on those. Go get them if you can. Might as well see what else he has while your there too.
Forgot to add the date code of 0A19 is 1970-Jan-16th. Those Medium riser heads along with the High riser, Tunnelport and CJ heads were cast and sold over the counter and as service parts well into the 70's after inital production. The heads had the original casting numbers (C5AE-F in this case) just later date codes. My TP heads have the C70E-K casting number and 71 date codes FWIW.
*Edit to add*........ the C6 might have a cast iron tailshaft, R servo and is a possible CJ unit. Check the intake even if it's ratty. It could be a old MR, PI or sidewinder. Was it single or dual 4V? Carbs?
The intake has a breather tube that looks like it is aluminum. The intake is aluminum, but very dirty. It is a single carb intake. I can't remember much about the C-6, except it looked in good shape, just dusty. He said he had other parts, but will have to find them. What should I offer him? Maybe $200?
I have cash, so that might help. Even if the C-6 is in good shape, it probably would need to be rebuilt.
