Seal cracked/split

Seal cracked/split
was looking around underneath the truck and noticed this seal cracked.
since it is not leaking I am guessing it is a dust boot of some sort.
This is at the front end of the rear driveshaft, where it goes into the t-case.
Not sure why this is cracked/split.... less than 900 miles on it.
Any ideas it they can remove the u-joint and slip a new one on or if they will have to split the end off the t-case to fix this ??
Hopefully Ford used better quality rubber seals else where on the truck.
