I know this is probably an RV question but you guys may be able to help. After my first long pull with my 05 Ex hauling a 4000 lb 24' Car hauler V-Nose with a 3850 lb car inside I quickly found that I need sway control and a load equalizer.
I have a smaller, open trailer that I had bought sway control for primarily for my Durango when it pulls it. Being the D does not pull the bigger trailers anymore I want to swap the system over. My big problem is the V-nose tongue is short and the equalizer brackets hit the trailer. Here is a picture of the tongue:
Here is my flat trailer's tongue:
I need 27" from the center of the ball to the bracket. Should I have the brackets welded to the frame or do they offer a different design to work on a v-nose?
So you don't have enough tongue length for the equilizer bars before hitting the V? I suspect my cargo trailer had the same issue - previous owner had an extension welded onto the front - also makes it easier to turn with the trailer.
I suspect most decent welding or RV shops can do it quickly and pretty cheap.
My trailer is brand new, are you saying to extend the V in the front? I believe the brackets could be welded to the existing frame at the 27" mark, would that work? The bracket would have to be slightly modified to fit before welding.
I bought mine used. not extending the actual V of the box/nose - but extending the frame hitch area out another 10" or so. On mine they welded new frame section to the existing coming to a universal 3" channel on the front. it has mounting holes so you can switch from a ball mount to a pintle hook by just unbolting one and putting on the other.
if you do have room between your receiver hitch and the box then you should be ok. on mine where you mount the brackets for the equalizer bars was the same spot that both frame sections came together so I could not mount the brackets as intended. was going to just weld them on but after consulting with my neighbor we welded a filler to the bracket and moved the drilled mounting hole to the top. worked out very well. if you aren't worried about moving them weld away, shouldn't be a problem.
After going through all of that. I would also check into draw tights dual cam system for sway control. That friction bar does not work that well. On the larger trailers.

I have the reese dual cam (same company) and I love it.
