Good Winch?

What do you ford fans think of this winch for my:

1975 F250 4x4 Ranger w/ 390, 4sp manual granny gear, NP205, 32 inch tires, single cab, long bed.

The GVWR is 7700 lbs, and from what i read i should have a winch that can pull 1.25x the weight of the truck.

read the winch primer at pirate4x4. It will open your eyes.

And the winches from harborfreight aren't that great. Its kind of one of those things where if you need a winch, you need one that works and is reliable. If you are counting on it to get you out and you go to use it and its not working or can't get you out then youre screwed. In that sense, having a crappy winch is worse than having no winch at all.

I don't know anyone that has used that 10k one though. Most of the people I have heard from have used the 8k one and said its junk.

Here is a "10k" one from summit for about the same price:
Smittybilt 97210 - Smittybilt XRC 10 Winches - Overview - SummitRacing.com

and generally, I trust summit more than harbor freight...

But you know, the mile marker, warn, superwinch, etc, 10,000 lb winches are about $1000 more. There has to be a reason for that....
