Craigslist score!

It's the age old story of better just isn't good enough. I found a guy selling a Hedman header for the 300 on Craigslist and picked it up for $80 today. I've already got EFI exhaust manifolds to go with an Offy C on the 300 in my Bronco, but at that price who could resist?

Will it seal up good? How? Is it better than the efi/walker Y? For what application(s)?
Thanks & congrats on your find

It should seal up with no worries, it's got a 1/4" flange which is the same as the Offy C mounting tabs.

I just had the exhaust shop bend up a custom Y pipe, so I can't comment on the Walker piece. It should be better than what's on there now. Long tube headers typically give more low end power. Of course the conventional wisdom is that the EFI manifolds are just as good as a header since most 300s don't turn a lot of revs. I'd be interested in seeing some dyno numbers to back that up. I'm not expecting a world of difference, but do plan on slapping on a reworked head and new cam so it should pay off nicely then.

IIRC most dynos won't register below 2000 rpm....It's been some time since I read that so it may not be correct.

Car show round here brought one on a trailer that looked like a double decker car hauler. They drove em up, strapped em down, and reved the pi$$ outta em (the croud went wild). Why can't they get it through all the revs? I need a measurement @ 1600 rpm. May B this demo dyno ;-} was only for hp not tq?

You will feel major improvements over oem. On the head, do some port matching, clean the exhaust runners and the bowls, with a three angle v. job with 30 degree back cut, and you'll be amazed at the difference.

The Comp cams 260 duration is a nice cam for the 300, as are the Isky 256, 262 duration. It's always a good idea to get the kit.

Yeah, a dyno pull that's only good from 2,000-3,500 rpm probably won't tell you much about a 300. Although one that's been juiced like y'all's might be a little more interesting.

Once I get the engine built I'm probably going to give the old Projection 4-Di I've got sitting around a try. With an adapter it will control the spark curve on a TFI dizzy. One of those more money than sense things - and I don't really have all that much money...
