piston and ring replacement

piston and ring replacement

so i am going to replace just one piston i think because i bent a rod and broke a piston. but everything else is still good. would it be alright to use the rings off the old piston. they have only been in the motor about 10k miles.

advice pleaase

how did you bent the push-rod ? water on top of piston? Inspect your ring before but to me it should be alright if you don't need oversize on your cylinder.

I think he means he broke a connecting rod, not a pushrod. But still, if the cylinder wall is clean and the rings are working fine, I don't see why not. If I were in this situation and replacing one piston/rod/set of bearings was the most economical fix, I would definitely treat it as a full rebuild and use a break-in schedule to make sure those old rings seat right with the new (or used) piston.
