Well I've replaced the oil cooler and was just about to button up the last little pieces when I started to put the intake on and bam! The walls around the intake side of the turbo are scared. The shaft has about an 1/8 of play in it. I guess it's good I caught it now but I just had this turbo replaced from ford a year ago under warrantee. Guess they figured this reman would last me a year till my warantee was up. Oh well that's life.
I remember a post a while back about a vgt Garrett replacement turbo but I can't seem to find it. Does anybody know the site or part no. For this turbo?
You may be able to take it back to your Ford dealer. Was the turbo replaced under warranty done less than 12,000 miles and 12months ago? Because then you would be covered under the part warranty even if you are outside your trucks basic warranty. Something to look into. Part warranties can extend past the powertrain warranty.
Thanks Steve for the post. Tried to rep ya but it won't let me for some reason.
Jboczar I'm past the 12,000 miles plus I wouldn't even attempt to take the truck back to the dealership cause the trucks not stock and I don't want the headache of them telling me my coolant filter caused my turbo to go out.
Anywho thanks for that info tho.

If they would even attempt that, I wouldn't trust them to change my oil.

That's how much of a weasel my dealership is that's close to me. Before I deleted the egr, put gauges in, and got a tuner I was getting high boost ratings and my ac line blew and I had an oil leak. Seems they just patched the oil leak with some bubble gum, gave me a crap turbo, and told me my ac line blew cause of my suspension lift and my coolant filter. They wanted $700 to fix the ac. Cost me $48 and a 12 pack. I work on my own truck now. Sucks but not everybody has a cheezit at their dealership.
