I've got a 1986 F150 5.0 auto trans.Sometimes when I excelerate it responds quickly and sometimes I mash the pedel down all the way and its slow to respond it takes forever to get up to 35 or 40 mph. Any ideas what could be causing this.Thanks for all help.

 

I would check the codes first.
