I have replaced the IAC and gas cap. Cleaned the MAF as well. Sometimes when I shift from drive to reverse, there is a drop in the rpms from a normal of 600 down to 400 and it feels like the engine might stall. This happens backing in from the street to my downhill driveway.
I have taken it the Ford dealer and this is their report:
Road test and confirmed customer concern. Visual inspection. Check fuses, electrical connections and VAC lines. Retrieve DTC. P0455 Gross leak. Evap system test.
Data log and monitor VMV.
Monitor rpm actual/desired. Both within specs.
Is customer having any idle concern such as stalling?
As for EVAP system the following test and visual inspection:
1) Vapor management valve and vent control valve are sticking
2) Vapor storage tank is contaminated and bracket is rotted and rusted.
3) Fuel filler neck is also rusted.
Recommend:
-replace Reservoir canisters ($184.86), vent ($153.60) and vapor valve ($138.75)
-replace fuel filler neck ($473.52) and replace bracket ($393.25)
-PCM reflash and retest after repairs.
Note: during repair process we may come upon hidden damages
Diagnostic: $169.95 plus tax
<o></o>
Parts: $1572.37 +tax
Labor $728.52 +tax ( up to 6 hours maybe less)
My questions:
what can I replace myself?
Would you recommend replace all the parts or some?
Is this a do-it-yourself repair or not?
The vehicle will fail an environmental air-care test program and be unabled to be insured unless I can repair this and I want to eliminate the stall problem before it gets worse. The real problem is the vehicle in my market is probably worth less than $2000.
"-replace fuel filler neck ($473.52) and replace bracket ($393.25)" That's ridiculous!
