My signal flasher relay just started acting up. When the ignition is in the ON position, the relay crackles and almost sounds like a buzzer. It will stop if the turn signal is switched on or if you step on the brake (illuminating the brake lights), but go right back to "buzzing" when the signal is switched off or you let off the brake pedal. No other electronic devices on the truck cause the buzzing to stop. I replaced the relay with a brand new one from Ford, and it still does the same thing. Before I go and pay someone to look at this, anyone know a solution or heard of the problem? Thanks.
Usually buzzing noises from electrical components are due to corroded terminals or contacts. Check the area closely and try to reseat any plugs or connetctors, etc. Also look for any signs of water leakage.
You need to indicate the year and model of your truck....
I checked the contacts and no corrosion. The box the relay plugs into goes directly into the wire harness, so I can't track back very far. No water leakage I can determine.
What year and type of truck. Have you recently acquired it. When the truck is running and charging, do you have about 14 volts? Any mods or security systems?
Bought it a few months ago. 2004 F-250 XLT 4x4 5.4L with the ZF. It just started. Truck is charging fine as best I can tell. No other issues. No mods or security system (heck, I leave the key in it most of the time).
