exhaust question

New to the forum so let me just start by saying hi guys.

I Just bought a 2002 expy and it looks like the exhaust hangs too low and I am trying to figure out why the previous owner would do such a thing. The only thing I could think is that either the truck was raised before or maybe it had bigger wheels at one time. The exhaust hangers are all intact so it definitely looks like someone did it on purpose. I have several pics showing dimensions so maybe someone here can take measurements off their stock trucks and tell me if mine is slightly raised or not. Let me know what you think.

This is about all the info my manual provides for your truck. Your system is definately too low, I suggest that you put the truck up on jack stands and look for other locations to secure the system higher. The rearmost pipe may be bent from backing into a curb or something.

SECTION 309-00: Exhaust System 2002 Expedition/Navigator Workshop Manual

GENERAL PROCEDURES

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exhaust System Alignment
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .
Check for loose, damaged, or missing heat shields. Install new heat shields as necessary. Check for any trapped debris between the heat shields and the exhaust system components.
Loosen all exhaust component fasteners and clamps from the exhaust manifolds to muffler inlet pipe.
NOTE: Make sure the exhaust insulators are hanging straight up and down and are free to move.

Beginning at the front of the vehicle, align the exhaust system to establish the maximum clearance. Make sure the muffler extension pipe and the muffler inlet pipe are pushed all the way into the preceding pipe and the notches are correctly lined up with the tabs.
Beginning at the front of the vehicle, tighten all fasteners and clamps to specification. For additional information, refer to Specifications in this section.
Start the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks.

Lack of experience at exhaust work comes to mind.
