BBB,

Do you think I will see any difference in the transmission cross-member location or in speedo cables or vacuum line connections?

thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg, I wouldn't worry they should all be the same. You will find other stuff just a little bit different though, that's what makes '67's unique and Stockman a big fan.

You Cally's really have it rough. Man, what a rust bucket...

Really sweet looking piece you got there gtex

My 67 came from Fla, so it's pretty nice overall, just has some minor bubbles starting from being around the north for a couple years now

I think you have a winner for a project...like it looks like it really needs alot

Good luck with it

I swapped the cruise-o-matic out of my 67 for a c-6. I used the rear bolt on tail from my cruise-o-matic and had to move the cross member back about 2 inches and shorten the drive shaft. No real problems though, the trans mounted to the crossmember with the old mount.

The 69 has a lot of new or rebuilt drive-train parts (brakes, shocks, leaf spring bushings, 390 and C6, split drive shaft-bearing, wheels and tires). It also has front disc brakes and power steering. It drives well.

Do you think it will be easier to move the 67 body over the 69 chassis and drive train, or to swap all of the drive train components from the 69 to the 67?

Any ideas or knowm problems going either way appreciated.

Thumbs up 67-69 differences

is pretty easy on these trucks. 6 bolt holds the cab/front end. A simple wiring harness and steering coupler.

How bad is the running gear on the 67? If you want an instant rebuild, swap bodies. If you want to just change the worn parts, do it piece by piece.

Greg, aren't you in Texas? If so, what do you mean about installing an air box to pass inspection. For anything over 24 years old, there's no such thing as a smog test and neither year model needs any emission equipment. I live in Houston, where we supposedly have some of the worst air in the US and they are really cracking down on the big polluters, and I haven't run into any resistance from inspectors.

It's too bad your '69 went south. That is a great looking truck, although the '67 isn't shabby either. I'd move the clean '67 stuff over to your '69 chasis since you've spent so much on the engine and drivetrain. I'd bet the majority of the '67's components are original and in need of replacement soon. But then you've got an awesome '67 chasis and nothing really to do with it...unless you find a good cab somewhere....but then you could have just done that for the '69. HMMMM, such a quandry.

Good Luck.

I think that the 68 ford has the coolest grille out of all of em but they are very hard to find at least in good shape anyways. That is another difference here are more:

1967-F-series trucks were redesigned to a squared off look with the headlights worked into a rectangular grille. The parking lamps were located under the headlights. the interior increased in size and had more glass.

1968:The grille got a new look and to comply with federal standards side marker lights and reflectors were added. Inside Ford improved the armrests, changed to safety window cranks and redesigned heater controls.

1969:The grille was the same as 1968 except the black paint was changed to ivory for the standard grille which changed again midyear to chrome. The rearview mirror mounted on windshield instead of window frame. The ranger Package had a red stripe in the center of the grille and blacked out headlight bezels.

1970:The grille again got a new look with a grid pattern. The parking lights were wrap around and the rear sidemarkers moved. The trim packages changed names-what was standard became Custom and Custom became Sport Custom Cab. A new top of the line trim package was offered called the Ranger XLT.

1971:The grille chaged to six rectangular sections on each side of the center vertical bar. the interior had a new two spoke steering wheel with a horn bar instead of the button. The F-100 hubcaps were passenger car style.

1972:The grille changed slightly to four rectangular sections on each side of the center vertical bar. Engine and transmission choices stayed the same. Power brakes were optional on 4 wheel drive trucks.

They would not pass my truck without the factory airbox, I've got an Edelbrock chrome circular airbox. I've had 2 different shops tell me the same thing.

I would agree, you should have little trouble combining these two trucks into one awsome machine!!! 1967-1972 are the same basic trucks with the major differences being the trim, and some changes in the steering wheel (1971 or 1972???) The 1970 trucks have side marker lights in the belt line of the bedbox, but other than that, no real differences.
