Calling all DashDaq nerds!

I was in a toss up between the DashDaq and the new Insight CTS.I ended up buying the CTS and now that I have it I'm not that happy with it.With that said I'm returning the CTS and going to fork out more money for the DashDaq,But I've got a couple of questions for you DashDaq pro's.

This is how I understand it..."Included OBD2 generic PIDS","Included Ford enhanced PIDS" all come with the Dashdaq. Now "Licensed Ford enhanced drivers" are the one's you have to pay extra for???

I don't want to buy any extra's right now,I'll get them later. So will I still beable to read EOT,ECT and trans etc with just the PIDS that come with the Dashdaq?

Also on the website why am I only seeing EOT in C* only?Do you have to have the "Licensed Ford enhanced drivers" to beable to read EOT in F*?

I know it's alot of question's,So bear with me.I don't want to make another mistake.

First off I will say I am no pro, that being said I am a gadget geek…
You will have to / want to buy the “Complete Ford/Mazda Enhanced Parameters” however not the additional ”Factory Computer Enhanced Data Licenses” (a larger library with even more parameters than DashDAQ's built-in set). I am copying some of this info right off the Dashdaq web page hoping it will clear some confusion in my answer.
The generic OBD2 scan only pulls 25 Signals. As listed; 3 Accelerator pedal positions, MAF, Barometric Pressure, Calculated load value, Commanded EGR, Control Module voltage, Distance traveled with MIL active, Distance traveled since DTC’s cleared, EGR Error, ECT, Engine RPM, Fuel Level, Intake Air Temp,Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure, MIL Status, Number of warm ups since DTC cleared, OBD latency, OBD Network type, OBD Requirements, OBD Update rate, PTO status, Time since engine start, Vehicle speed.
The Basicl Ford license pulls 49 signals. All the ones listed above and 2 more Barometric pressure, EOT, Exhaust Back Pressure (absolute), Exhaust Back Pressure desired, Fuel Control State, Fuel Pulse Width, another fuel level, Fuel loop (open/Closed), Fuel Mass desired per stroke, Injection Control Pressure, Injector timing, IAT2, Intake Manifold Runner Commanded, Manifold Gauge pressure, Mass air flow, Tq Conv slip, Tq Conv Status, Tq Conv input Tq, TFT, Transmission Position, VGT duty Cycle, 2 Vehicle speeds,
The additional enhanced license ”LARGER LIBRARY” (I is still do not have) looks at 329 PIDS. I did a full scan at level 7 just to see.
All temps are in Fahrenheit.
Hope this clears it up.

So in a nut shell the Dashdaq straight out of the box will read the above PIDS?Then later I can buy the “Complete Ford/Mazda Enhanced Parameters”?

Mine will freeze up and I have to unplug it from the OBD port to shut it down. Also something is wrong with the screen,It has a big green dot right in the middle of it.I also thought it would do more than it does.

No,
$549 for the generic OBD2
Another $95 for the Basic Ford “Complete Ford/Mazda Enhanced Parameters”
Then Another $95 for the Enhanced License

I've been looking at the DashDAQ for a couple of months so I'm only a DashDAQ nerd wantta-be. If you haven't already contact their tech support department to clear up any of your remaining questions. I've sent them several E-mail and they are always quick to reply.

I did give them a call and they were very nice.I asked the same question as I asked here and he had told me I would beable to read ECT and EOT without buying any extra's right now.I've also asked about six other people and got three yes'es and three no's.

I was always able to read ECT/EOT which was important for me for comparison and I also don't have an analog EOT gauge, so the DashDAQ is the only way I've been getting that reading.

Got my Edge Insight CST today and love it. Reads everything I want it to read. So far seems like a good product. Got the EGT cable also, what they call the starter kit as it has other ports to plug other probes into.

I think my memory is starting to go. Today I was cleaning out my truck and looked at the receipt from when I purchased my DashDaq. I did not have to buy the extra license to read the info listed above. So the answer to your original question;
“So in a nut shell the Dashdaq straight out of the box will read the above PIDS? Then later I can buy the “Complete Ford/Mazda Enhanced Parameters”?”
The correct answer is YES.
Sorry for the bad information before.
It sucks to eat your own words! “I thought I was wrong once, but as it turns out I was mistaken.”

I've been wondering about where the enhanced ford parameters were, since I wanted to read fan speed and I knew that they were purchased with the unit, PLUS updated from their website. I had to go and turn them on in the parameters and rescan the truck. I found something like 182 parameters that it would read on my 04. It would read virtually everything but that (and FICM voltage) the way it was shipped out of the box. I think the complete enhanced package reads an additional 5000 parameters if I read their list correctly, we just don't have that much stuff to read on our trucks.
