so a thought here. I am wondering if the free flowing intake is able to pull hard enough on the CDR to close it. When i replace the lid with one i got from a jy, there seems to be less mess in the intake and service intervals for the CDR are normal. I find myself servicing the cdr more with the bowl delete. Could there be a link and does anyone else see this that has done the soup bowl delete? Do you notice a hint of oil smell? My blow by is normal, but i find myself contemplating a cdr relocation to remove the stress on 7&8. Thoughts or......?
Ya I noticed it as well. I have thought about relocating it to the ats valve cover style. But with out the bowl it would still allow the oil to reach the filter houseing and hence to the intake.
Well I am glad it's not just me!! Whew! So my thoughts are to constrict the tube from the valley pan to the cdr. The decreased Diameter might make the pull close the cdr more easy??
The only thing that don't make sense is that I don't see oil on the bottom of the lid bolt. Since the cdr dumps into the intake below the filterhouseing I though that the oil maybe from the filter foam cover itself. I do clean it with soap and water then reoil it. It may just be excess oil from it laying in the houseing.
That could be as well. But my pyro don't show any real high temps and it is pionting straight into #8. I am not trying to argue with you man just playing the devil's advocate lol. Hope it might get the ideas flowing.

thats what gets me too is that theres no oil on that dowel for the housing for me but if I rub my finger on the bottom of the inside of the housing I will have a tiny oil residue, I think its all normal though
I hear ya fellas, just didn't see any of these issues till I cut our the bowl. I am going to mess with restricting the cdr slightly to see if I can get it to close off a bit easier. See if that does anything.
i cut my bowl off before i starting driving my truck.
about 10k miles now.
i never burn a drop of oil.
i never smell any oil.
because of this,iv never even removed my CDR to even look at it yet.
i run a K&N filter, and just washed and oiled it again for the first time like last week.
i didn't see any oil buildup or anything.just lots of bugs!!
hahah,it was pretty clean from dirt-but just the right time for a wash.mostly just a lot of bugs.
maybe your guys CDR's are just due for a replacement i don't know.
i know, your supposed to wash it out, every other oil change,so i will this coming one just for kicks.
