I may be wrong, I have been before and I will be again according to my wife anyway , but I do not think the 390 was ever offered as a stock motor in a 4x4. The 360 was the stock FE motor as far as I know.

The 390/360's werent factory installed in the F100-F350's after 76.
Yes it will physically fit but....it will not bolt up to the tranny, will need correct engine mounts, possibly rad, may have to rework the exhaust to match the exhaust manifold, to name a few differences.
Sparky is right. There were no 390's offered in 4x4 trucks.
As mentioned, there would be quite a bit of parts swapping to pull this off.
If you are looking for more cubes go to a 460. If you have an automatic transmission, it will bolt right up. Of course there would be other alterations involved.
