Hypertech max energy installed
I finally got around to updating the software and installed the tune on my 2010 FX4. I would have gotten the Gryphon or other custom tuner, but I got a smokin' deal on the Hypertech. I must admit, the software download part was a bit confusing, but didn't take all that long. I installed the tune and have been driving the truck for the last few days.
I have noticed the truck seems to have a little more pep, and even with my lead foot the last few days, mileage has gone from 15.9 to 16 on the truck computer. I imagine if I drive like I normally do (fairly easy most of the time) my mileage will increase more. This is mostly driving around town too.
I am going to tow my 6x10' enclosed utility trailer later today, full of all the old roofing material from my shop, to the dump. I have no idea how much it weighs yet, but I'll get a slip at the dump. It is only maybe 12 miles to the dump, so any mileage calculations should be moot. There are a few hills on the way there, so I can report on how the truck does there.
I only installed the engine tune, no trans shift points or firmness, etc. I'l post back later.

Ok, well my loaded weight was 9400 pounds, so I was pulling about 4,000 pounds. Not too much weight, and the truck did great, of course. My mileage did drop back down to 15.8 according to the truck display but the torque seemed to kick in even harder at about the same low RPMs. I used tow/haul and it shifted great. I don't think the truck got over 2,500 RPMs. I was driving kinda easy because I was following some slow drivers and I don't like to drive like a nut when towing. I'm leaving Sunday on a 900 mile trip to my parents' house for a couple weeks, so I'll post my results as far as mileage and butt dyno.
