I'm about to order some coil springs for the front of my truck but when I found them they had a variable rate option. What is different about these? My passenger side is sagging noticeably so while I'm doing kingpins I'll replace the springs. What I would like to know is should I stick with standard or go with variable? Thanks.
Is there any price difference? I personally would say get the Variables, if theyre not too much more, just to have that added performance when yah hit the trails....
Not much of a price difference. My truck is an F150 2wd with 460. The only offroad it sees is if I back over the wife's flowerbed. I do use it to haul my grandmother's enclosed trailer when I evacuate her due to a hurricane and hauling home improvement materials. It has Firestone airbags in the back in addition to the regular suspension. Oh, and it's a long wheel base if that matters.
I know of at least 3 trucks that run 1/2 ton 4x4 chasing coyotes and they all use variable rate springs. If i was only driving on the street i would definately choose the variable rate for a smoother ride.
