i used the cherry picker (engine hoist) from HF to pull my engine. the wheels are garbage and the legs are kinda weak but it worked fine. just keep it in as far as you can, although it will lift it at the 1/2ton mark. you can just really see it bow
ya, you will be fine with hf junk. if you dont have a perfect floor (or even if you do) i would highly suggest replacing those casters. they dont roll nor do they steer worth a damn.
thats one thing i love about my place. the pad in my pic is great for my baby, if she needs to go inside, i can either go the way she is into the front half of the shop. if i need the lift or dirty work, throw on the stock tires/wheels and drive it in the side. 2400 sq ft shop and a **** load of tools between my dad and i.
thanks. at my old house i had a setup for wood working. was just a soft carport with sides. worked well though. i built some really nice stuff back then. kinda lost my love for wood. i really should get back into it though.
I know that it is a scary thing to try and pullthat lift back or in with one of these monsters on it. Next time mine has to come out (may it be years from now) I will pull the grill and core support. I think that is far safer.
Besides man it would give you the chance to do any repairs to the support while it was out lol. As far as thier engine stands go I have never used one of them. But I did do some reinforcing of my hd stand I have. When I put this 6.9 on it I couldn't turn lol.
The support is in almost new condition,The main reason Im going to do a new engine is the truck body and interior is in such good shape I cant let it go! But it would give me a chance to mod the air intake like ....[I forgot who it was] with the dryer vent techniqe.I just hate I have to redo the A/C after this,It was working fine! OH well if we didnt have old trucks what would we do??
ya, its easy enough to pull the radiator, core support, grill and headlights. thats what i did. leave the fenders on, pull the hood and your ready to slip it straight out. makes it so so much easier.
