Hey guys,
Been looking for a body for the F350 plow truck.
I may have found a '92 F250 2wd with a decent body, I know physically the body will fit, though I'll have to cut the hole for the transfer case shifter. Wondering more about the cab electricals, will everything be plug and play, with both having E40D trannies, or am I going to have to swap cab harnesses? I know I'll have to pull the instrument cluster to add a bulb for the 4wd indicator light likely, but what about the other electrical stuff?
I know it's do-able, guess I'm just wanting to think of what all is involved before I make the commitment to go look at the truck (it's a 3 hour drive away to see it.)
I know I'd have to change the front bumpers too, but that's no big deal.
When was the switch from v-belt to serpentine belt on the 7.3's? Again, not a big deal, but if this was v-belts, I'd be able to have the engine accessories all as bolt on spare parts as needed.
92 wiring is different.... its electronic odometer and trip. not sure if thats just all internal or if theres differences in the firewall change too. the switch was 93 i believe, when the turbo became an option.
Dang it.... that means I either need to put a '91 or earlier gauge set into the '92 cab, or I guess I could swap the '92 rear axle along with the body to drive the speedo electronically? I knew it had the different interior/dash etc, never thought of the speedo being electronic.
I guess my other option would be to use the '92 body minus the cab, and try to find another 87-91 cab for it......
