Hey everyone,
This has been going on for as long as I've had this excursion, since about 35,000 miles and now it's close to 80,000.
The Ex is a 2003 w/6.0 mods are banks 6gun w/ pda, zoodad, mbrp 4" turbo back w/ cat. & autometer boost + egr gauges.
The problem is when I accelerate hard the boost will go to 33 psi max which is fine but when I let off the throttle and press it again there is no boost pressure, sometimes I will go anywhere from 1/4 mile to about a mile then all will work fine. It dosn't do this every timebut at least 8 of 10.
While the vehicle was still under warranty I had the Ford service manager ride along with his laptop connected and monitoring the turbo and he said yes it was not functioning properly but it was still within fords specs and their diesel mech. said after driving it that it run better and had more power than any other truck there so they did nothing.
Also I know most of you guys have no use for Banks products but this all started long before I installed the 6 gun.
Is there a sensor that controls max boost that could be sticking or something else I can check.
Oh yeh not to sound dumb but the turbo variable pitch control thingy was changed at about 40,000 miles after failing and that had no effect on the problem.
Thanks for any input
Thanks CHEEZIT,
I think for now I'll leave it alone and just drive it. If it becomes a permanent issue then I'll have to get it fixed.
alot easier and cheaper to clean up a turbo vs do headbolts and gaskets.i'd fix it too.8 out of 10 times malfunctioning is pretty close to a permanent issue when you think about it.
Cheezit,
I certainly don't doubt your knowledge of the 6.0 and want to thank you again for your response, but as I originally stated this has been an issue since approx. 35,000 miles and now the exc has 80,000+ miles. So far no h.g. or coolant issues at all. Also it's not like I hot rod the vehickle much or very often but enjoy a little better than stock. I think all who have improved their engines performance will agree "stock sucks"
Oh yeh, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
