i know most here dont like body lifts but i need a little more height and im on a very tight budget.... so anyway looking through craigslist i found a brand new 3" for a '79 dirt cheap will i be able to make it work on my 94? all body lfts to my knowledge are just spacers and longer bolts so i figure its for an f150 itll have the same number of spacers and bolts that the ones do for mine right?
i'd cross check it with other kits online that have pics... make sure you have the same number of body spacers and that the extended bolts will be long enough or not too long and in that case do they have enough threads if you cut them short... how much is stupid cheap? I'd go with a correct year lift kit but that is just me. Spend the extra few bucks and make sure it's the right kit for the right job...
I know you could probably get away with a 80-96/97 kit becaus they are based on the same cab and bed... not sure how a 79 would do...

stupid cheap is $50 as compared to $120 plus shipping
Some body lift kits come with the specific drop brackets for the fan shroud, radiator and lift brackets for bumpers and stuff like that. You'll probably have to fab those up yourself to get the fan to line up with the shroud correctly and the bumpers to match up too.
Have you looked into the 2wd F250 springs? Seems to work for those on here that have gone that route. I found a set for $100 (2 front coils and 2 rear leafs) from a guy parting out his truck. Haven't gone to pick them up yet, but plan on getting them in a week or so. You didn't mention here if your truck was 4x4 or not, if not, there is more work involved with the shackles from what I've read.

truck is 4x4, now that you mention i do remember reading something about the springs are the leafs neccesary? i think i read that the front springs work to level it out?
From what I've read, if you put the front coils in, the F250 rear leaves (without the factory block) makes it level and lifted of a couple inches.
I saw someone comment they found the front coils at a pick-n-pull for $22 though so you might try it without the rear leaves first. You could always go with a slightly larger aftermarket block for the rear as well to even it up. Those are inexpensive brand new.
Keep us posted, I would like to see pictures. I'm a ways away from getting to do this on mine. I'm hoping to get a set of 33x10.5s on factory wheels with the F250 springs swap to get the look I'm going after.
