Hi guys my truck came with an ffffed tailgate. What years with fit my truck. 99-10? I read that with the lift mounts 08-10's will work. What about older f150 years? Like 97-03? Any help would be great!!!!!!!! Thanks again
A gate from a 1999-2011 will fit, however you will need to reuse the mount pins off your truck to make a 2008+ gate work, I believe. I am not 100%, but I believe an older F-150 (pre-04) uses the same gate as the SDs do.
Dont know answer but my tailgate was stolen at dealer lot before I bought it. They put a 250 one on which didnt matter after the badging was changed... until I tried to lock it. Of course it doesn't lock with my key and dealer closed up. Never been locked.

You know that you insert the key only half way into that cylinder right? At least that's how my '08 is. BTW - I try to keep mine with the camera locked, gets pricey to replace I imagine. Not sure about the '99, don't usually lock that one... hmmm, not sure why.
The 08 and up gates have S U P E R D U T Y stamped across them near the bottom in big letters.
Yeah, the 2008+ is a little different design on the outer skin, but the gates are the same as far as how they mount and the dimensions. The '08 is a nice upgrade, as it follows the bedside lines better. The OP can easily change out the key cylinder to retain the lock with his ignition key.
Any time, my friend.
Give the local dealership a call. Their parts counter will be able to give you a part number for a SD tailgate and an F-150 gate. If the part numbers are the same, then the gates are interchangable. If not, then that does not necessarily mean anything. I was looking at a pre-'04 F-150 today and the gate looked exactly like my SD gate.
You can also call your local body shop and see if they know, but I am all but certain that they are the same tailgate. All else fails you can test drive a pre-04 150 for an hour or so, drive it home, unbolt it and see if it fits.
Just drove to the dealership about a half an hour away that I knew had some pew-2004 150s and took some measurements. Here is the 411, bro.
Ranger- Will NOT interchange.
Pre-1999 250 and 350 trucks will not interchange, wrong design and the gates are too short.
Pre-2004 150 gates are identical by design and mount as the 1999-2007 SD gates, and are physically the same size as the SD as well.
All 250 and 350 gates are the same from 1999-2007 and will interchange.
Post 2007 250-450 (including 2011) gates are physically the same size, and the bed is the same size as well. The pivots are different however, and will need to purchase the 2008+ pivot for this gate to work.
Post 2004 150s seem to have the same size gate, but the design is different. Should work, but not 100%.
Hope this helps!
I just put a 08+ gate on my 05 250 without having to buy the mount for the driver's side of the bed. There are two small bolts on the bottom pass. side of the newer gates, that when unscrewed will release a rod and center section of the tailgates driver side mount. The newer Superduty gate then mounts EXACTLY the same as the old style gate. (Don't do it this way if you are too weak and need the rod in there to act as an assist to close the gate.)
