You have several options. SCT(which has the most tuners(people) out there to get a wide variety of different tuning styles), PHP(which actually uses Edge devices as the platform, but they are custom tunes), and Spartan Diesel(they use the DashDAQ as the platform for their tunes).

I personally have experience with SCT and the Spartan devices. If you go the SCT route, I wouldn't go with the LiveWire as that is still a troublesome device. I would do the X3 and then get either an OBD-II monitor and get an analog Fuel PSI gauge or go all out with all analog gauges. The Spartan platform is what I use now and I like it a lot more the SCT, but it is also pricier as well.

While I have heard good things about PHP and their tuning, I have had no experience with them.
well, after doing some research, alot of people where complaining about the SCT, because of alot of tension and stress on the transmission and other parts of the motor, have you had any of these problems?

Sorry Tex, I don't want to hijack the thread, but I think people aren't familiar with the different Edge tuners. I have the Edge Evolution, looks just like the Insight. I've never used the tuning portion of it, but I know you can't change tunes on the fly. It doesn't just tie in, but reprograms through the OBD plug.

I can't help but wonder if the reduction in EGR deletes has anything to do with the 05-07 factory flashes going all sorts of wonky without a functioning EGR system? Aside from better understanding of the underlying root cause.

I know about the Evolution. I was responded to a question about chips, the closest thing to chips are modules. Now, he might have been using the term interchangeable with tuners, that I don't know.

As to the Evolution, you are right, it's better then the modules, it however, still has the limit of one size fits all programming. You also have to realize that most of the power that those tuner create are through increase cylinder pressures. Not good.

Now granted, you go to hot with a tune and increased cylinder pressures is going to happen, but with custom tunes, you can get away with more tweaking then you can with off the shelf tuning.

I haven't had those issues. I would imagine that it would depend on which tuner(person) you go with, not necessarily the platform used to upload the tunes. There are some tuners out there that aren't good at what they do and then there are some that are excellant. Getting the tunes from the right person will go along way to making sure you have a good experience with the SCT or any custom tune platform.

I think that is just more of a coincidence. That is something easy enough to get around, I would imagine that if they were really trying, it would be just a little bit harder to deal with then it is.
