can I use the ttb drop bracket from an f150/bronco on an f250??? and does anyone know if you can buy ttb drop brackets by themselves and not in a lift kit???
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to buy the brackets separately, just call around to the companies that sell the kits, or check ebay/craiglists/etc..
i assume you could use them, because for the most part the brackets and axle halves are the same. j.c.whitney.com sells brackets by them self, but i think they are small, like 2-2.5 inches. here they are. 2.5'' is tops, and to be honest(***** everyone) i would suggest a body lift on a ttb truck, because they will tear chit up with lots of miles. Yeah I hear you if I lifted my ttb it would just be temporary. I would use like a 3 or 4 inch drop bracket and a shackle reversal kit. I would only want to keep my ttb for a while because I want to keep the 3.55 gears and 32' tires, which still have plenty of tread. With the SR in there I would be halfway towards an SAS. I don't want a d60 until I'm ready to get 4.10 gears and new big tires, and I don't want 4.10's just yet because I don't want to get f'd in the **** on gas milage....
Ever notice how often people come here asking for temporary solutions? Wonder how often anyone ever goes back to "fix" their temporary el-cheapo solution? Does anyone do something the right way the first time?
you have a straight six four speed truck, at most you get what 15mpg? how often and how fast do you drive on the highway? 4.10's and 32's might actually net you better mileage if you aren't a speed demon
4.11's a c-6 and 38's got me a 460 best mpg of 11 on a daily basis with a good carb tune. no b/s. i miss that truck to death. same truck with a hopped up holley could only get 8-9 on a great day. edelbrock ftmfw!!!! i would like to see what i could have done with 4.56's or 5.13's. either way tuck was a beast and fun all around
4.10's + 37" swampers + insane axle hop + anger + heavy foot + 1st gear low range=
That is the only reason you need to upgrade your u-joints kids. Psh, or you know, maybe remove the 4" block so the axle won't hop like a drunk frog....
