650cfm vs 600cfm

Just got my 302 back in my bronco and got the timing set. Trying to get the air/fuel mixture right but its still running rich. Its a holley 650 double pumper. I have put the smallest jets in the holley jet kit on the carb and my plugs arent the right color when I pull them out.

My question is would stepping down to a 600 be that much of a difference or would I be wasting money. If so what carb do most of ya'll run on your rigs? My motor is somewhat built: Edelbrock performer intake, ported E7 heads, 204/214 cam, hedman long tubes.

hey
im thinking that is the double pumper is killing you .
they are made for the track
if i remember right you can adjust when the secondaires open and when the
2nd accelerator pump works.

hows your power valve?

idle mixure screws ?

how does it run?

You'd be much better off with a vaccuum secondary 600cfm carb on your truck than a
double pumper. As mentioned above the double pumpers are primarily very high performance type carbs for hot street cars or race cars.
