A gradually dead engine
351W Bored 30 Over, GT40p heads, Elderbrock performer intake, Holley 4160 600cfm, RV cam.
The engine was running fine except for the carb got hot and it was a bit lean, so I bought a .5" heat isolator spacer and it solved the heat issue. When I got home I Tackled the lean issue by moving to #67 jets from #65, thats when the trouble started. It would not idle well and had a lot of stumbles and hesitation as if it was not getting any fuel. After trying to dial it in I decided to put the #65 jets back in and it half way fixed the problem It still did not run right at all with the same issues, now it will not start and if it does its by liberally pumping the gas pedal. I even rebuilt the carb checking and cleaning everything and still a no go. Im out of ideas at this point. I performed a compression check and its 155 across the board, it has spark and even a new coil, the carb is pumping fuel (accelerator pump at least) and the timing is spot on.
any insight would be appreciated.
