Identifying a tow package

I am a soon to be 1st time truck owner. I am currently looking at an '07 F150 with 4.6L V8. I plan on towing with this truck (4000-5000lbs).
Can someone let me know how to determine if this truck is equipped with a "tow package"? It is equipped with a hitch and elec. hookup. Should/Does it have a transmission cooler? The current owner doesn't know. Anything else I should look for?
It has only 16K miles and looks like it has never towed or plowed.
Thanks
Mark

if it has the tow package there should be a tranny cooler in front of the condenser and radiator. you should also have the hitch as well as a 7 way round connection and a 4 way flat connection.

is the transmission cooler small or big?

I noticed a small black cooler under the radiator. Is that it?

Thanks Shaun. If I remember correctly it has all the things you mentioned. Do you know if there a transmission temp gauge that might be in the dash?

Most, if not all, of the 04-07s had a transmission cooler mounted in front and slightly lower than the radiator. Most tow packages had larger ones (there were a few that didn't).

The easiest indication is there will be a combination 4 pin and 7 pin socket alongside the receiver (aka hitch).

Since somebody could have installed the 4/7 pin socket to make the truck appear to have a towing package, an even better way is to download the factory window sticker from http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=[your VIN here] (do not leave the [] in when typing in your VIN). It will show if it has the tow package or not.

Mine did not have a hitch on it all. I had to add one and get the wiring done too.

I put in a Scanguage II unit. One of the many X guages that you can program is transmission temp.
