Updated flash??

My 7.3 Excursion is the shop, for stalling issues, while it is in there I would like to know what a updated flash is.? I have read somewhere on here that guys take their trucks into the dealer for a upgrade flash. Do they update the older trucks? My EX is a 2001. I would love to have the latest updates if available. Do I need to send my DP Tunner back in for updates???. All my problems started with a aftermarket autostart. Love the truck and the engine but problems are starting to get expensive...

I hope you removed the DP before taking it in

You do NOT want your chip installed on the PCM for anything related to flashing the PCM.

Absolutely do not let them flash the PCM. Especially with the DP installed.

If I understand this correctly, your tuner is set to your current PCM codes/parameters and if they flash it, the tuner may not work well with the new parameters. Maybe Diane and Jody can chime in with a more in-depth explanation.

I am planning on calling them anyway..because the first time the truck died I had it towed in and was unable to get the tinner off, they told me they tried to flash it thats when I went down there and took it off. I think the tunner is junk..not sure yet. Live and learn I called DP after my first problem and they told me get it off the truck. ???? Once everything is squared away I will call then for info before I try putting it back on. They have been awesome to deal with so far...21mpg on the Higway I really want to put the Tunner back on eventually...thats 21 mpg with the calculator not the overhead "lie-o-meter"....

I know the 6.0's had updated flashes. I have not heard of any for the 7.3. Did the shop tell you there was an update? I would be hesitant about it since you have a chip.

So they flashed your truck w/o asking? I wouldn't be very happy about that.
