Oops, sorry, wrote 5W50 instead 5W40. Yes, we are following your recommendation. I double-checked your info and as there is no real risk for the engine, we decided to give it a shot. You're right, it could by a case-by-case issue (at least, that's what I'm hoping). I'm going to have the truck updated again just in case and the unit thoroughly rechecked with IDS (injectors, EBP, MAP, glowplugs, etc.). If all goes wrong, I'll call an exorcist (or would you want to have a trip to beautiful Switzerland and help me out ).
Will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Mike

I don't want to get flamed here, but some folks have insisted that Rev-X has cured their stiction. Others have claimed it helped, but you then had to run it all the time for it to "stay fixed". I have no strong opinion other than I am leary of oil additives.

BTW, I have also wanted to take a trip to Switzerland, but you would be better off to get cheezit (just don't let him put ATF in your fuel tank) .........

I'm not going for any additive, and I'm not even sure we can easily access it here anyway.

We run an engine balance this morning with an IDS at the dealership (had to show the mecanic myself lol) and lo and behold, injector 4 takes a plunge down to -40 on the graph 3 and 5 go down somewhat to less than -20, no DTCs otherwise. No wonder they've not been finding anything, they were not looking at the big picture.

Now I'm stuck with that proposal for a trip here . Ok, I'll make a deal with you. Next big issue is for you but I please tell me if we did right on this one, I think we're going for at lest one injector change.

Otherwise, I'm putting the beer in the fridge ready for you.

And what the heck is ATF ? Trans fluid ??? We don't do things like that here, nor italian tuneups. We're serious people here

Glad you found the issue with the injector. Many times people want to change all injectors because only one or two are bad. I would say that this really isn't necessary - especially since your truck is a 2006. Change the one and see how it drives. I will add as a side note that low fuel pressure can kill injectors. Fuel filter changes (w/ OEM Motorcraft, Racor, or International filters) are important.

Make sure the batteries and charging system are in good shape. They can cause issues and low voltage can quickly kill a FICM.

What did you do with the old FICM? It could still be good and it is nice to have a good spare for troubleshooting purposes.

Clearly I was kidding about the trip. Also was kidding about the ATF (tranny fluid). Cheezit is one of our valued techs here, and he is experimenting w/ his own truck with it. Inside jokes are lame, I should have left it off of my post.

Good luck to you. Let us know how the repair goes.

Bismic, you're more serious than us Swiss ! Was just pulling your leg ! Sorry, I did not mean to sound this way. I really appreciate your help and humor and hope I can also contribute to FTE and make lame jokes (ok, now I'm really ). I'd better watch my tongue (sorry my typing).

I'll go and drink a beer on you guys tonight. Thanks to all in pointing me in the right right direction, this stiction business got me more and more interested about an injection problem.

I've got to say that a few years ago I hated these 6.0L, but you guys are right, when you know a few things about it, it's not bad at all. I just wish we had had more knowledge back in '05 already.

Just a heads-up on this issue. Injector 4 was changed and now the truck is doing fine. So stiction it was !!!

Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction.
