Mods, please move if this is way off topic. Will AAA tow an inoperable vehicle from a dealership to a private residence? My insurance company had my X hauled into the dealer when the windshield leaked and flooded the fuse box. The dealer says it's up to me to find a replacement fuse box and I don't want my X sitting on their lot while I search for the part.
Shouldn't be a problem. I had a good friend's Dodge with a blown engine towed from a Dodge dealer to a private garage. Around here, the AAA guys are always quite friendly and never question the details of the service call. Once the call is made and you give the operator your info, I've never been asked to show either my AAA card, registration card or ID when the truck arrives. I believe if you read the fine print, they could ask for it, but its never happened to me.
More than once, I asked them to back the tow truck down an alley, make a sharp backwards turn up my driveway and drop the car inside my integral garage. Never a problem, but I always gave them a tip for their added efforts.
Based on my last conversation with an AAA guy who jumped my car and insisted on doing a full charging system analysis on site (great deal too, for free!), they want you to be totally satisifed with their service call.
My experience is that they'll tow anywhere you want. Just remember that there is a limited number of miles that is free.
They are mostly (all?) independent contractors so your personal experience may vary but I have had the same experience as fordmanbrad. They will try and work with you the best that they can.
