from what i understand... if youre gonna turn ur fuel up or do alot of revvin up ur gonna want one. try to get it as close to the manifold as you can, or better yet on the manifold itself
Well, it was in a junker Peterbuilt that was about to get scrapped. New, never installed. Found it in the glove compartment, has the sender unit too. Isspro R-607-25 is what it is marked.
I use my truck to pull a 21' camper, about 5500 lbs, with a load of firewood and ATV in back. Occasional use hauling various stuff, maybe 1 1/2 ton max on the back. I live in Iowa, so, mountains aren't a major problem here.
It's free, so why not? Certainly won't hurt to have it installed...
Well, guess my major objection is since I have a 84, the only real way to mount extra gauges is a el-cheapo gauge mount. Wish I could put some kinda pillar mount on it, but there isn't a manufacturer that makes one for that old of a model. Hate having something hanging down under the dash, always in the way.
Anybody got any good suggestions for mounting gauges in that old of a model?

Not I... I was gonna mount mine under the dash, probably forward of the shifters somewhere...
you can get a gauge pod. they have 2 gauge pods that just fit the mid section, or you can get the 3 gauge pod for the 92-97 and cut the last 3 inches off the bottom like i did. its exactly the same as the brick nose interiors, just spray die it to match our interior color. i think i paid like $40 bucks on ebay for it.
I used a 3 gauge under dash pod, with a little modification it now sits over the dash speaker grill which was crumbling from all the years in the sun.
Since I have a stereo with speakers in the doors, there was nothing under the dash grill, and the crumbled out holes gave me a place to run the wires and tubes to the gauges.
Mine houses a volt meter, coolant temp and oil pressure gauge.
A pillar pod holds the pyrometer and boost gauge.
Engine oil temp is in a cheapy under dash bracket I hate.
