Some of you may know that I just bought an Aeroforce Interceptor for my truck. I've decided to mount it on the column with an Autometer 15010.
The gauge hasn't arrived yet, but I wanted to get a head start on the painting of the column. Here's what I don't understand; does the Autometer piece just mount on-top of the factory trim piece? Or is it meant to replace the stock panel?
I originally thought it was supposed to replace the stock panel, but it DEFINITELY won't work. It's (the Autometer 15010) too short on the shifter-side and won't meet with the bottom.
Yeah, that sucks dude... why not just go the extra mile and make it a replacement? I would have expected better from AM.
Although it might be a sale for our under dash "dockfoot" pods. Hey, Autometer's loss.
I also expected more from AM. Allthough I'm not looking for an under-dash mount, I would be interested in a higher-quality steering column pod....
....What-a-ya say Tennessee, ya think you create an upper-half steering column panel with a nice pod molded in? Something better than the AM piece / maybe mold the 2-1/16th pod to the left side of the column, kind-of at the 10 or 11 o'clock position.....
Have you ever seen the SOS pods for Stangs? I had one in my 03 Mustang GT and it was BY FAR, WAAYYY BETTER than the AM approach. That's the style I'd like to see for a column pod.

Yes I have. We have used them for a few customer projects. They aren't the greatest for customer service, but their products are 100 fold over the competition (Autometer)- the Bentley of gauge pods (high quality and high price).
BTW, I am sure I can make a pod that is a direct replacement for the top half of the column cover... I ill look at the OEM piece and see what all I can do.
Agreed!! The more I look at this POS the more I HATE IT!! This pod just SUCKS.

Sweet!! I'm serious. I gotta do something here. I looked again, and it looks like the 10 o'clock position is ideal for a gauge.
PM me and we'll chat.
I couldn't wait any longer. I had to do something about the POS AutoMeter pod.
I bought an Autometer 4402 - single pod - universal mount. I drilled to small holes in it, painted it and rivited it to my factory cloumn cover. What do you think guy?
